MISSION
PURPOSE
VISION and VALUES
To assist Johnston County citizens with unmet needs in locating and accessing the
necessary resources to address their educational, health, and welfare concerns and to fill
gaps in services where they exist, and is to be accomplished by promoting a diversified
membership and advancing a spirit of commitment among its members in volunteer service.
SERVE THE NEED IN JOHNSTON COUNTY, www.servetheneedinjc.com, was formed on November 19, 2008 by a group of 39
Johnston County citizens who gathered together and shared a common concern that the needs of many of our deserving but less
fortunate community residents were not being met. All present were equally committed to forming an organization whose purpose would
be to try and make a difference in the quality of life for those with unmet needs based on the belief that resources should be
equally accessible to all in that all people are created equal and equally deserving of a meaningful life. Under the leadership of Dr.
Norwood Williams, Serve the Need in Johnston County was founded and in February 2009 qualified as a charitable non-profit
Organization with Dr. Williams serving as its first President.
